UPDATE! Click here to see phage T4 DNA packaging video simulation!

Our lab uses a combination of molecular genetic, recombinant DNA, biochemical and structural approaches to investigate bacteriophage T4 head assembly and DNA packaging.

The main focus is on the elucidation of the packaging mechanism in viruses, a fascinating process driven by one of the strongest force generating molecular motors reported to date.

We have developed strategies to use bacteriophage T4 as a vaccine delivery vehicle. Foreign proteins from infectious agents such as anthrax and HIV can be displayed on phage T4  at high density and elicit strong immune responses.
