The Bolognese 1317-1348 List of Prices for Manuscripts

The Bolognese statutes of 1317 (repeated in the statutes of 1347) gave a list of prices that the booksellers should charge for manuscripts.  This list, published by Frank Soetermeer, Utrumque ius in peciis (see full citation below) 314-317, reproduces a list found in Graz, Universitätsbibliothek 363, fol. 1rv.  The list should be read as follows:

Lectura domini Hostiensis sunt clvi. quaterni taxati, l. solidi bononenses.

The Lectura of Hostiensis has 156 taxed quaterni, which total 50 Bolognese Solidi.

Each of the quaterni was divided into peciae.
