As Scottie leaves the mission church following Madeleine's fall, Hitchcock provides a dramatic overhead shot that required elaborate planning and production (including painting of the non-existent tower and combining of location and studio shots into one). Henry Bumstead's storyboard (below) shows how the shot was done.
