Math Placement at CUA

How to take the tests

First --- prepare!

At a minimum, review the mathematics you learned in elementary algebra, and elementary functions (including the trig, exponential and log functions). Practice some of the routine execises. Your skills may have gotten rusty since you last took that those classes, but you will need to know them when you take calculus.

Here are some links to online review resources.

When you actually take the tests:

1. Be sure to set your browser to allow pop-up windows.

2. There are two parts to the test

You can take each separately in either order. You don't need to take them on the same day. You must take both parts however.

You can't retake either part.

Each part has its own password. The password for part 1 is: arctic-loon. The password for part 2 is: banded-quail.

3. You may use a calculator during the test.

4. We expect you to do the tests on your own without any aids, coaching or advice.

5. You'll do each part of the test in one sitting of at most two hours. To finish the test you must click the SUBMIT button at the bottom of the page.

6. Avoid these Blackboard-related errors:

7. Error recovery:

If you interrupt the test, then you will neither be able to resume it nor will Blackboard have your answers. Please contact me if this error occurs.
