Math placement at CUA
Do I need to take a placement
test?
Yes, you must take a
placement test if you
are majoring in -- or leaning towards majoring in --
Architecture, Biology, Business and Economics, Chemistry, any
Engineering program, Mathematics or Physics.
The placement test determines placement into the following courses:
Math 108 -- Elementary functions
Math 111 -- Calculus for the
Social/Life Sciences I
Math 112 -- Calculus for the
Social/Life Sciences II
Math 121 -- Analytic
Geometry and Calculus I ("Calc I", for short)
Math 122 -- Analytic Geometry and Calculus II ("Calc II")
Math 221 -- Analytic Geometry and Calculus III ("Calc III")
If you just want to take any of
these courses, then you must take a
placement test.
Put another way: if you are not in, or leaning towards, one of the
programs just mentioned, and if you have no wish otherwise to take the
courses listed above, then you do not
need to
take any math placement test.
