Math Placement at CUA

Do I need to take a math placement test?

Yes, you must take a placement test if you are majoring in -- or leaning towards majoring in -- Biology, Business and Economics, Chemistry, any Engineering program, Mathematics or Physics.

Yes, you must take the placement test if you just want to take a calculus course.

Architecture students: You must take a written placement test, not the online test. Please link here for more information.

Otherwise: no.

The placement test determines placement into the following courses:

Math 108 -- Elementary functions

Math 111 -- Calculus for the Social/Life Sciences I
Math 112 -- Calculus for the Social/Life Sciences II

Math 121 -- Analytic Geometry and Calculus I ("Calc I", for short)
