Welcome to our class Web site!   This Web site will be updated throughout the term with additional reading assignments and other information.

On February 14, 2006, I posted the Reading through March 14 (partway through Week 10 of classes).

• Many helpful resources on copyright law are available on the Internet.  To get you started, a few links are listed below.  You  may wish to bookmark these.   I hope that you will all surf the Web and find many more helpful resources.  If you find a site which you believe will be of particular assistance to your fellow students, you are encouraged to post it on the class listserv, which will be set up during the first week of class.

• Here is a link to a site concerning the Leicester v. Warner Brothers case about the Batman Forever film's depiction of a sculpture called Zanja Madre, on the side of the 801 Tower building in Los Angeles, shown as the Second Bank of Gotham several times briefly as background in a few scenes of the film.  You can watch a film clip there.  The sculptor, Andrew Leicester, has a website at  http://www.andrewleicester.com/ that has photos of the Zanja Madre.  The Ninth Circuit's decision in this case is reported at 232 F.3d 1212(9th Cir. 2000).
